On May 6, Professor Wang kunzheng, chairman designate of the branch of orthopaedics of the Chinese Medical Association and director of the joint surgery center of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University, with the assistance of chief physician Yang Pei and associate researcher Tian Run, successfully completed the first seven axis cooperative robot assisted total hip arthroplasty in China. The success of this operation indicates that the Department of bone and joint surgery of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University led by Professor Wang kunzheng has made important progress in the field of joint surgery, and will bring gospel to more unfortunate patients suffering from joint diseases.

Total hip arthroplasty is one of the most successful operations in the 20th century. China completed more than 400000 hip arthroplasty operations last year. The robot used in this operation not only meets the needs of doctors in clinical application, but also effectively solves the problems of inaccurate operation, inaccurate clinical effect and excessive dependence on experience in traditional hip replacement surgery; Moreover, we have achieved independent innovation and R & D in key technologies. At present, the world mainly uses six axis robots to assist doctors in surgery. This operation is the first total hip arthroplasty using a seven axis robot with completely independent intellectual property rights in China. Compared with the six axis surgical robot, the seven axis robot has absolute advantages in force control interaction: at the same time, it has realized "preoperative - accurate reconstruction, intelligent planning, intraoperative - accurate control The whole process of "soft hand feeling, postoperative comprehensive evaluation and real-time feedback" significantly improves the accuracy of prosthesis placement and greatly reduces the doctor's learning curve for hip surgery. Meanwhile, the hip prosthesis implanted in this operation is a domestic top be2 ceramic interface product designed according to Chinese anatomical data and with independent intellectual property rights, which truly encourages domestic and imported substitution.

Professor Wang kunzheng said after the operation: "artrobot" robot is the first seven axis hip arthroplasty robot independently developed by the Chinese team. It can not only accurately locate, polish and install the prosthesis on the acetabular side, but also accurately locate and cut the femoral side, ensuring that the error with the preoperative planning scheme is within 1mm and the installation angle deviation is less than 1 °. At the same time, the operation was jointly completed by the orthopaedic robot independently developed in China and the ceramic hip prosthesis based on Chinese anatomical data, which realized the comprehensive localization of hip replacement surgery in a real sense.

Professor Wang also said that this seven axis surgical robot for total hip arthroplasty has greatly improved the clinical pain points of poor accuracy and long learning curve of hip arthroplasty. The development of joint surgery robot has promoted the progress of the whole field of joint surgery in a certain sense. We hope that more doctors, enterprises and scientific researchers will participate in the research of new orthopaedic technologies to help the development of orthopaedics.
